The first truly hot day of the year on Saturday May 29th saw a friendly match at our green in Ladywell Fields with local neighbours Francis Drake.
It was a close fought match at the start and at the break after nine ends, the scores were very tight on all three rinks, with Francis Drake edging it on two of the rinks and Ladywell winning on the third.
But the break for tea seemed to bring the best out of the Ladywell players - particularly on rink 2, where Ladywell pulled away to a 21-6 victory. On rink 1, Francis Drake won a close game 20-16, while the third rink was tied at 13-all. So, Ladywell took the win by an overall score of 54-39.
It was a great match and wonderful to be hosting another club in such ideal conditions. We're looking forward to the return friendly match in August.
