On Saturday May 27th, Ladywell played a friendly bowls match against local Lewisham rivals, Francis Drake. And it was a close-run result, with just one point in it at the end.
The day started with Ladywell losing Ian Bradford to illness, but luckily Alvin Nelson stepped in as a replacement at the last minute.
On the first rink, the Ladywell triple of Nova Dobb, Norman Lewis and Des Marrett lost narrowly, 14-17.
The second rink saw another loss for Ladywell, as the triple of Sally Bryan, Alvon Nelson and Mark Simmons went down 11-20.
The final match saw Ladywell field four players, with Susan Levene and Marion Edwards each playing half the match, supported by Bernie Jermin and Robert Dunn. They pulled off a substantial win, by 19-8, but unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for Ladywell to gain the overall victory.
So, the final score was Ladywell 44, Francis Drake 45.
