Ladywell's brother and sister pair of Mark and Kim Simmons have progressed through to the final of the Beckenham, Bromley & District Bowling Association's Pairs knockout competition after a convincing semi-final win over Bromley on Wednesday 23rd August.
The Bromley pair started the 21-end match strongly and pulled away to an early 11-3 lead. But Mark and Kim soon got into their stride and there was nothing between the two teams after eight ends at 11-11. Ladywell continued their momentum and pulled away to a 16-11 lead after 12 ends. But the Bromley pair fought back on the 13th end, gaining three to come within two points of the lead.
Again, Mark and Kim took charge of the match, gaining ten points in the next six ends, allowing their opponents only a single point in reply. This left the score at 26-15 with two ends to play, when the Bromley pair conceded the match.
So, Mark and Kim march on to the final on Sunday 19th September at HSBC Bowling Club. But first, they'll be hoping to help the Ladywell team qualify for the final of the BBDBA Triples League competition when they play in the semi-final on Friday 25th August.
