Open Day brings lots of new players to Ladywell

Our Open Day on Sunday May 30th was a big success, with over 30 new bowlers coming down to the green in Ladywell Fields to learn about bowls and to have a go for themselves.

The day was part of Bowls England's #BigBowlsWeekend initiative to introduce the game to new players - and we certainly feel that we did that!

A game for all ages

The morning started with a cool breeze, but by the time the gates were opened at 11 o'clock, the sun was out and it soon turned into a beautiful sunny day. It was lovely to see people of all ages taking advantage of the weather and enjoying a game of bowls - our youngest visitor was less that a year old - although she decided against having a go! But her mum certainly seemed to enjoy playing the game and we were also glad to host a number of families and get them playing together.

New members

We were so pleased to see a steady flow of people coming through the gates throughout the day - and to introduce the game of lawn bowls to a new audience. And we were even more pleased to hear quite a few of them saying they'd like to join our club - and taking advantage of our offer of free sessions for their first four visits and then half-price membership of £30 for the first year.

See you again soon!

Many thanks to all the club members who helped to make it such a great day. But most of all, many thanks to the people who came along and let us introduce them to the beauty of bowls on a sunny day. We look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Come and try it for yourself

If you couldn't get down to our open day, but would still like to learn about bowls, we always welcome new players and visitors to our club roll-ups every Monday, Thursday and Saturday from 1pm and Friday evenings from 6pm in June, July and August. Please check our Fixture list to see if we're playing a match, as this may restrict availability.
